The Circle of Life
There was a tangle of debris, rope, shattered fiberglass, wire and even a boats chair scattered among the seaweed by the breakwater. The October storm a few years ago had been hard on several boats that were ripped from their moorings. A short beech log floated to rest between rocks at the high tide line where it remained till the following Spring. Summer came and went and the following Fall with the kind help of a passerby we managed to stuff it into the trunk of my car though not able to close the lid. It rested next to the garage for another year or so while most of its remaining bark weathered away. After sawing, it then spent the following winter near the wood stove and finally the shop furnace drying. Plane, sand, flatten, fill the cracks, sand some more, repeat. Apply finish and legs and now it has a new life. From forest, to river, to sea, to harbor and beach, to workshop, to your living room. Will deliver.
